Rained this morning and with the rain, I lost an opportunity to do a long tempo ride. It’s difficult to do tempo riding after work, because of increased heat and traffic. So far this week, my training has included:
Monday- Brief hill workout, focusing on 6-minute and 4-minute efforts. That workout went poorly, and I lost my Garmin due to a broken mount.
Tuesday- Tempo Workout, focusing on finding threshold (or the effort I can barely sustain for the duration of the workout).
Because my interval workout on Monday was cut short by my Garmin mishap, I’ll take the opportunity today to do intervals after work, and tempo in the morning.
Route tonight will snake around and include two 5-minute efforts, two 15-minute efforts, and two 2-minute efforts. The total mileage will be about 40, and the ride should take me a little over two hours. The goal of the workout is to find the exertion level for each interval, specifically coming back from traveling and a week of not practicing high-intensity riding.
