Monthly Outlook;

Happy March First!

The first of the month is a great time to review your life goals. Whatever your goals are, write them down in concise clear terms at the top of a sheet of paper, by hand, and then consider the following.

“Stop acting as if life is a rehearsal. Live this day as if it were your last. The past is over and gone. The future is not guaranteed.” –Dr. Wayne Dyer

We’ve all heard this. We have all tried. If you have had a near death experience, or suffered a loss, you may have maintained this outlook for a few weeks. But there is a problem with living exclusively for today. Today is not enough time to complete a college education. Today is not enough time to lose ten pounds. It’s not enought time to start running every day.

With your goal at the top of the page, write out no less than 20 ways that you can move towards your goal. Do not let yourself leave that page until you have 20 ways. When you finished brainstorming, look back over your list and find the ones that are actionable today. That is, which of the listed actions can you take today. Circle each of them, and set out today to accomplish those things.

Life is too short to not be present today. But ten minutes and this simple exercise will help you to change your life in a measured, controlled way. Accomplish these tasks first thing in the morning (eat the frog) and you can be present and move towards your goals in a measured, disciplined way.

Trouble is, nothing here is too hard. Everyone can do this. The easiest things are also the easiest to blow off. If you want to achieve your goals, take ten minutes and make sure you aren’t wandering through your day. Some people take comfort in the Tolkien quote, “not all who wander are lost”. That may be true, but no one wanders with a goal in mind and ways to achieve that goal. Don’t wander today, it’s not dress rehearsal. This is your life; make it count.
